Ride The Florida Greenway with Southern Region PFHA
Saturday, May 9th, 2009 (rain or shine)
Bring a cooler with the beverages of your choice and SRPFHA will supply the picnic lunch! (Sorry, Alcohol is not allowed on the Greenway).
Starting Point: Meet at the Land Bridge Trailhead at 8:30 A.M.
Ride out: 9:30 A.M. (estimated ride time is 3-4 hours depending on your pace).
Ride west to the 49th Avenue Trailhead for a lite snack.
return east to Land Bridge facility for a picnic lunch with your friends compliments of SRPFHA.
Trail ride is approx 8-10 miles roundtrip depending on your selection of trails. Equestrians must use only trails marked for horses or the “SHARED” trails.
(Stay off the hiking/ biking trails)
Land Bridge Trailhead has dedicated parking area for horse trailers.
There is a horse wash-down area and non-potable water in this area.
Restrooms and Picnic Tables adjoin the equestrian area.
Trails are sandy with some shade so bring sun protection and rain gear depending on weather.
Ride Rules:
• Signed release form for each participant.
• A current Coggins is required for each horse to ride in Florida parks, please have it available…on the horse…. as officers can issue warning tickets.
• Junior riders must have a helmet, be accompanied by an adult and have a signed release from parent/guardian. Must be over age 13 to ride a stallion.
• If your horse is a kicker please tie a ribbon in their tail to alert other riders.
• Sorry no pets.
Directions:
From 1-75 south of Ocala, take exit 341 (old exit 67) to CR 484. Head east on CR 484 toward Belleview. In about a quarter mile, turn left (north) at intersection with CR 475A. Proceed on 475A for approx. 2 miles until you reach the trailhead on the left. (For reference the Florida Horse Park will be on the right).
